What belongs on a homeschool high school transcript

College admissions offices expect the same core elements from a homeschool transcript as from any school. Our high school transcript generator includes all of them:

  • Student's full name, graduation date, and your school's name and address
  • Every course from grades 9-12, organized by school year, with letter grades and credits
  • Credit-weighted cumulative GPA (plus a weighted GPA if you use Honors or AP courses)
  • Optional SAT and ACT scores, notes, and achievements
  • A grading-scale key and your signature as the parent-administrator

How to create a high school transcript for your homeschool

  1. Enter your school and student details. Many families simply use their family name (like "Johnson Academy") or pick a school name of their own; colleges are perfectly comfortable with both.
  2. Add courses year by year. Search common course names or type your own; assign letter grades and credits (a standard year-long course is 1 credit, a semester course 0.5).
  3. Review the GPA summary. The generator calculates yearly and cumulative GPA automatically, so you can sanity-check before sending.
  4. Receive the PDF by email, print, and sign. Keep a copy each year so senior year is a five-minute update instead of a weekend project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the homeschool transcript generator really free?

Yes. Build a complete high school transcript and receive it as a PDF by email, free. No account required.

Does it calculate GPA?

Yes. It calculates credit-weighted yearly and cumulative GPA on a standard 4.0 scale (A=4.0 through F=0.0), with a weighted GPA that adds +1.0 for Honors, AP, or dual enrollment courses (capped at 5.0). Pass and Withdrawn grades are excluded from GPA.

Do colleges accept homeschool transcripts?

Yes. Homeschool parents act as their student's school administrator and issue the transcript themselves, and colleges are familiar with this and expect it. Our high school transcript generator includes the self-certification statement and signature line admissions offices look for.

What is the difference between a transcript and a report card?

A report card covers one grading period or school year; a high school transcript is the complete four-year record (grades 9-12) with cumulative GPA that colleges and scholarship programs request. Need a single period instead? Try our free report card generator.

Why do you need my email?

What about multiple students or saving my work?

The free tool autosaves a draft in your browser and covers one transcript at a time. The Homeschooler app saves transcripts for every student in the cloud, autosaves as you edit, and generates transcripts automatically from your gradebook, from $7/month.
